What are Cloud Backups?

Cloud Backups are a feature we built to help users save their app data so they can recover it if they lose or switch phones. When you enable cloud backups, we periodically generate a backup file of your data, encrypt it, and store it securely in our servers.

We built this feature so that users would not have to worry about periodically backing up their data. Cloud Backup syncs happen automatically in the background while you’re using the app, and we handle the storage of these backup files for you.

How do I enable Cloud Backups?

Go to Settings → Your Data → Cloud Backup and tap the “Enable Cloud Backups” button.

I just switched phones, how do I load my cloud backup on a new device?

If you’ve just installed the app, then from the very first screen tap the “Load Backup” button, choose “Cloud Backup” and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you’ve already hatched a new birb, you can still load your cloud backup by going to Settings → Your Data → Cloud Backup, and tapping the “Load Cloud Backups” button.

Note that this loading a cloud backup will erase any Finch data currently on your device.

How do I disable Cloud Backups?

If you wish to stop using cloud backups, you can disable the feature by going to Settings → Cloud Backup and tapping the “Disable Cloud Backups” button. This will not impact the data on your current device, and you can continue to use the Finch app normally.

If you disable Cloud Backups, you can always choose to re-enable Cloud Backups at a later point and can re-use the same email.
