When you join Finch, you can create an account by verifying your phone number.

If you’re already using Finch, you can create an account by going to Settings → Profile → “Create Account” button.
You may already have a Finch account if you previously signed up for Cloud Backup with your email and password. As we’ve grown, we’ve needed to better support all users and have updated Cloud Backup to Accounts.

Having a Finch account keeps your data safe, secure, and backed up to our servers. It’s the best way to recover your Finch pet and progress in case you switch phones.
Cloud Backups are a feature we built to help users save their app data so they can recover it if they lose or switch phones. When you sign up for an account, we automatically generate a backup file of your data, encrypt it, and store it securely in our servers.
We built this feature so that you wouldn’t have to worry about periodically backing up your data. Cloud Backup syncs happen automatically in the background once every 24 hours while you’re using the app, and we handle the storage of these backup files for you.
To see more about your data, including Cloud Backups, go to Settings → Your Data

If you’ve just installed the app, then from the very first screen tap the “Log In” button. You can log in using either your phone number or email and password. Most users who created Cloud Backup accounts will use an email and password, and most users who recently signed up for Finch will use their phone number and verification code.

If you’ve already hatched a new birb, you can delete the account you just created, and Log In.

⚠️ Warning: You can only have one Finch account associated with your phone number or email. If you create a new birb using a phone number or email already in use, you’ll be asked if you want to delete your previous account and start fresh, or log in.

You can always delete your account by going to Settings → Profile → “Delete Account” at the bottom of the screen. Note, this completely deletes all your local and our stored data for your account. It’s irreversible, and we cannot retrieve your account after it’s deleted.
